Welcome to First Church of Christ, Scientist, Stockton, California. The first Christian Science church in Stockton was organized in March, 1898 and although we have had different addresses over the years, our church has continued serving our community, uninterrupted, since it was first organized. Our church is currently located at 2050 West Swain Road in Stockton (View Map). We are a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, located in Boston, Massachusetts.
You are warmly invited to attend our Sunday morning services at 10:00 a.m. where we sing hymns, pray together, and listen to scriptural readings from our pastors: the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy.
Our church remains open but, in accordance with CDC and county guidelines, participants are required to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing. Singing may be restricted based on the county’s current risk level. You will be guided accordingly at the service.
Our Sunday School is for young people up to the age of 20, and is held at the same time as our Sunday services. Students are encouraged to know God as divine Love and to trust Him as “a very present help in trouble” – always available to turn to in prayer. They study and discuss healings in the Bible – those of the Prophets, Christ Jesus, and his followers. They also seek spiritual insights from the textbook and gain an awareness of their relevancy in today’s world.
We also hold Wednesday evening testimony meetings at 6:30 p.m. Readings are from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, followed by testimonies of healing. Individuals tell about how they prayed and how effective this prayer can be in healing all types of problems: turbulence in relationships, physical problems, financial challenges, and emotional difficulties.
