Everyone is welcome to visit and study in our Reading Room and Bookstore. It’s a quiet place where you can come to read and study the Bible, as well as other Christian Science literature. We offer a computer for online biblical research and articles on healing through prayer.
The Christian Science Reading Room is a resource for the whole community. It is a place to find out about the healing work demonstrated by Christ Jesus and explained by Mary Baker Eddy in our textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
In the Reading Room you will find Bible study reference books, biographies of Mary Baker Eddy, periodicals full of healings experienced through the application of prayer as taught in Christian Science, weekly Bible lessons, compact discs with inspirational music, hymns and audio articles, and so much more! You may borrow from our lending library, or enjoy a quiet space for study and prayer.
Books, articles and magazines in Spanish and many other languages are available as well. You are welcome to come into the Reading Room to browse, read and stay awhile. Visitors often read the award-winning newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor, use our databases for further spiritual study, and go on-line for other materials about the power and presence of God in our daily lives.
Our reading room is located in our church building located at 2050 W. Swain Road, Stockton.
It is currently open on Tuesday from 1:30pm to 3pm, Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30pm and the first and third Saturday of each month from 9:00am to 11am.
Every Tuesday, the church hosts a Bible Lesson Study meeting from 12:30pm to 1:30pm in the Reading Room as a joint activity of its Metaphysical and Outreach Committees. During this meeting, inspiration from studying the lesson is shared and applied to blessing our church and the wider community. All are welcome.
